Camp Vineyard 2016 Registration is Now Open!

Registration for Camp Vineyard 2016 is now open at campvineyard.com/register! We can’t believe Camp season is just around the corner. Here’s what pastors and youth leaders need to know: Camp Vineyard 2016 is June 27-July 1 Earlybird registration is $249 for the first 100 Campers registered through March 31, Camper registration is only $259 after that. Adult volunteers are just $219. Earlybird registration also includes a sweet piece of 2016-exclusive Camp swag! New Group Registration (and more)! We’re taking advantage of a new feature in our registration system that will make groups easier than ever to manage. Even better, you have the option of letting parents register their own kids, because they’ll be required to select their church group. No misspellings, no confusion about the church’s name, just a list of church groups that they can select from. Easy! (Note: We’ve tried to pick the name for your church that you use most frequently. For example, Vineyard Chattanooga instead of Chattanooga Vineyard or Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Chattanooga) Also, for the first time, Adult volunteers can let us know what Neat! Groups they’d be interested in helping to facilitate during the week. They’ll do this during the same registration step that Campers would. Finally, we’ve got the option for group leaders to upload scanned copies of the completed release forms, making Check-In even easier on the first day of Camp. If you need a refresher on how the system works, check out this YouTube video from last year. We Want to Expand our Neat! Group Tracks! We’re looking to add at least one 3-day fine arts Neat! Group Track...

An Important Message about CVFL 2015

You know, Camp Vineyard is a lot like church planting. You find a spot, you put a team of great folks together, you pray a lot, and you go for it. A lot of times, it works. Certainly, 2014 was a fantastic first year of Camp in Florida. This year, however, we’re having to cancel Camp Vineyard Florida. It’s not something we do lightly, and it’s not something that hasn’t happened without a lot of thought, prayer, and conversation. However, just like church planting, Camp Vineyard depends on the partners who come together to make it happen. Some key leadership changes in a couple of anchor churches combined with a slow response in registrations left our host churches in an untenable spot. It hurts. I’ve been in touch with the CVFL team throughout the last several weeks, and they were doing everything they could to put this together. But without the numbers and the people, there was no way to move forward. You’ve got questions, I’m sure. The first of which is probably “Wait, I signed up for Florida, what’s going to happen to my registration?” Anyone who signed up for CVFL and paid online through our registration system will receive a full refund immediately. Before this is posted, in fact. (If you mailed a check to the Cape Vineyard, they will be in touch this week.) If you registered through your church group and paid a deposit, check with your group’s leader. We can only refund registrations that we received through our system. The second question might be “Can we still come to Camp at Southeast? Is Camp Vineyard...

(Click to enlarge) Notice something missing? That’s right, there’s no HvZ this year. Instead, during The Final Hangout, we’re going to hold the first ever Junior and Senior Ultimate Quidditch World Cup! We’ll pick the 2 Junior Camper teams and the 2 Senior Camper teams with the highest scores in Ultimate Quidditch during CTC’s and let them play for a Junior and Senior division title under the lights on Thursday night! We think it’s going to be pretty...

Protips for Counselor World Training

Our own Ramon Bermudez, part of the CVFL team, had a great idea for you group leaders trying to get your volunteers trained up for Camp: Buy pizza and get together on a Saturday afternoon to do all the training at once! I have to agree, having finished the new version of the Counselor World training videos, it’s definitely better to go through all the training with a few friends in the room. The new videos were shot while we did a small group training, and they have a different feel than the previous version. The videos will go live next week, so now’s the time to make some plans. With about an hour and a half of content, it’s a comprehensive introduction to volunteering at Camp. Here’s some suggestions on how to structure your group training: Before the Training Download the latest version of the Camp Vineyard Volunteer Manual (you’ll receive a link to the latest version along with some other training info in your inbox after you register). It’s the guidebook for this training, and at 60 some-odd pages, you probably want to use your laptop or tablet to follow along. You can print out a copy or two for the note-takers, if you want. Intro // 10 min. Take 10 minutes to go around the room and be sure everybody knows everyone else. This is going to be your team that’s coming to Camp. Chances are, some of your volunteers are parents who don’t normally serve with your youth team, so get to know each other a little before we dive in. You don’t have to...
