We’re a mere 5 weeks away from kicking off the best week of Camp Vineyard ever. Camp HQ is buzzing as we finish putting together all the great events and games that will be going on at Illuminate. With all of that activity, we have a few things we want to let you know about.

First off, this year’s costume event is going to be (drumroll pleaseā€¦.)

The Ultimate Historical Character Showdown!

Haven’t you always wondered what would happen if George Washington and Marie Curie faced off? Could Joan of Arc take down Alexander Graham Bell?

You may not have asked those questions, but we have. So, to settle it once and for all, we’re going to have everybody come dressed as their favorite historical figure, and play the most epic game of NINJA ever. If you don’t know what NINJA is, you’ll find out. It’s super easy to play, and we think it’s going to be hilarious to watch Neil Armstrong take down Albert Einstien with a well placed karate chop.

We’ve seen some absolutely amazing costumes in the past, so we’re looking forward to seeing what you come up with. (Just use good taste. No Hitlers, Stalins, or other 19th-21st century despots. Not that you’d want to do that anyway, but we had to say it.)

Next up, we noticed that an early version of the Illuminate Promo Pack was missing one of the release forms. If you used the first version of the Promo Pack with your group, download the full release form, which contains both Camp Vineyard and Woodland Camp’s forms. Parents, please be sure you’ve signed both, and have turned them in to your group’s leader. You should’ve received the proper forms as part of your registration confirmation email already, but we want to be sure everybody’s covered.

Lastly, we wanted to let you know about a new set of events for this year. Thanks to our new schedule, we’ve been able to create a time for campers to learn some neat stuff. We’re planning things like wilderness survival, mad science, worship guitar, and even a group where you can ask a couple of pastors some Big Questions about Life, the Universe, and Everything. We’re finishing the full list of groups this week, and we’ll be having you pick 2 to sign up for before camp, so be on the lookout for those in the next week or so.

That’s it! See you all in a few weeks!
