It’s the first of March, and while we’d normally be wrapped up in the mad dash of registration, we have a news update as we look ahead to registration opening on March 27:
Any Word on Increased Capacity?
Not at this time. We (and Woodland) are still waiting for new guidance from the Georgia Department of Public Health. We assumed this would come later than February, which is part of why we delayed registration to March 27. We’ll update when we have any new info.
How Different is Camp Going to Be, Really?
We don’t know the complete answer yet and are preparing for a spectrum of outcomes. Based on guidance from the GDPH for fall retreats in 2020, we have been preparing for a very different kind of structure for teams, games, Neat! Groups, and meals. We also have our traditional programming structure that we’ve run successfully for many years. We expect 2021’s programming will end up being a mix of the two, but we are preparing for both ends of that spectrum.
Any Changes to the COVID Protocols?
Not at this time. As always, the latest version will be in the Parent & Volunteer Pack.
Fun Stuff
Who’s on the Team This Year?
One of the great parts of Camp has been building a team across state lines. What started with a central group of a few people in Chattanooga has grown and changed over the years. It’s a great pleasure to get to know so many amazing leaders, to invite them onto the team, and to call them friends.
This year, Sarah Tew from Vineyard Jackson is returning as the Site Coordinator, and Billy Kent from the Greenville Vineyard will be making his in-person debut as Site Pastor. We’re also so, so happy that Stephanie Richardson is able to help out with forms compliance again. You can read more about all of them on the About & Contact page.
Also returning are two members from Sarah’s team in Jackson, Kayla and Sarah Beth (Not Sarah Grace. I am still apologizing for that two years on.). In addition to helping with general admin duties, they’re taking on a new role this year in running the waitlist. That’s a big, thankless task – so be sure to thank them a lot. I will be.
Our newest addition as Utility Infielder (I am so ready for baseball to start…) is Bryan Leonardy from Hope City Church in Tuscaloosa. Now the full-time youth pastor there at Hope City, Bryan also runs the Sub Zero Winter Retreat every January. He has been a part of Camp for many years, and we’re so happy he’s helping us out behind the scenes with Camp this year.
I’m incredibly thankful for all of the time they are putting in to Camp, especially as we’re planning for a week of Camp with so many current unknowns. This is a team full of smart, talented people who love the Lord, love the young people in their care, and who want to make this an incredible return to Camp Vineyard in-person. I really couldn’t do this without them, and I’m excited to see each of them put their imprint on Camp this year.
Got Any Other Announcements?
Oh, you know. We’ve got stuff brewing, as always. If there’s news, we’ll post an update every 2 weeks or so. If there’s not news, we will still post one more time before registration opens on March 27. Until then, stay tuned to @campvineyard on Insta and FB!
